Twice as Fatal: Perfect for football season! And it's $3.99.

I was just feeling happy about my favorite kind of day: a cool, clear, crisp October day. Sunny, but with just the right amount of warmth when the sun is up. This is my favorite time of year with marching bands, autumn leaves and pumpkin muffins. With the book I'm blogging about, I need to slip out of the rosy descriptions and talk about the down side of the season, namely a college football star being blackmailed. This isn't the only tough assignment for Jarvis Mann, P.I.

Here's more:

Ray Malone is a promising college football star whose career is derailed by injuries. When he disappears, close friend Jarvis is recruited by Ray’s father to locate him. After tracking him down a video is sent of Ray with the warning of it going public, threatening his career and those that love him.
Case two has landlord Kate Tanner hiring Jarvis to gather evidence against her cheating, thieving husband so she can divorce him. As Jarvis investigates he learns of the husband’s connection to a powerful man, with a dangerously perverted agenda that crosses into Kate’s life with deadly consequences.
Across the Rocky Mountain Front Range Jarvis tries to balance both cases, each dragging him deeper into different sleazy underworlds, jeopardizing him, his clients and their families. With danger and death all around him, he somehow must rescue everyone before this fatal business claims the lives of all involved, his life and the one he is growing to love.

Seeking Asylum.

migration stories

Yvette Grimm comes to Australia on a tourist visa which is running out. She does not want to 'get married for a Green Card' as we say in the United States. A psychic said she would meet the father of her children by the time she's 30 and she's 29. Will she be able to stay? At what cost?

I went on author Isobel Blackthorn's website and read about Asylum. While doing so, I came across a few paragraphs on why Isobel wrote the book. I found it quite interesting, so I'm sharing it with you.

WHY I WROTE THE NOVEL ASYLUM

Asylum, started life in 2012 and is semi-autobiographical in that the protagonist, Yvette Grimm is a British-born visa overstayer seeking refuge in Australia and so was I. Although that is where the similarities end.
Migration stories are often painful and fraught, and Yvette’s is typical of what migrants go through when they try to sidestep the rules. Yvette’s story is juxtaposed with the conditions asylum seekers arriving by boat face in offshore camps. The story is ironic, Yvette’s suffering of her own making and really rather trivial in the wider scheme of things.
At the time of writing I was involved in helping asylum seekers, especially those who had made it to Australia on bridging visas. It was a gnawing sense of injustice that caused me to keep working on Asylum, motivated by a wish to make a contribution in raising awareness of the issue. Although it is not a book about asylum seekers. It is a story of belonging and alienation, a coming of age story.

Indie Writers: Who wants more reviews?

In the past, I have seen Tweets and Facebook posts from indie writers who offer a free ebook with an honest review. Whatever happened to that?

Send me a private message on Facebook or leave a comment on this blog posting with any book you want to promote. Please include your website and/or Facebook link.

I will follow up next week and let you know who is offering what.

It's a win/win.

Little Girl Lost: A psychological thriller out of Grimm's Fairy Tales. Only 99 cents.

Little Girl Lost: Psychological Thriller: A brick wall of a twist that will leave you stunned for days! by [Moore, Addison]

Every parent dreads having a child go missing. When the missing child disappears with a little girl  who looks like she came out of the distant past, it's even scarier.

Allison and James Price move to the navy-blue forests of Concordia, Idaho hoping to leave behind the chaos of Los Angeles and the painful memories of his indiscretions. Once settled in the picturesque town, where time seems to have stalled and life moves at a slower pace, their six-year-old daughter, Reagan, befriends a mysterious young girl who seems too idyllic to be true with her pressed pinafores, her perfectly curled pigtails. One late autumn evening, as their playdate winds down, both girls vanish into thin air. The little girl said she lived at the end of the street but the only thing Allison and James find at the end of the cul-de-sac is the gaping mouth of the forest. Their little girl, the mysterious playmate—they’re both gone.

Even worse, nobody's heard of their daughter's mystery playmate. Suspicion falls on the parents instead.

Lady Justice and the Candidate: Well worth a read!

Lady Justice and the Candidate (Lady Justice, Book 9) by [Thornhill, Robert]

I couldn't find a better time to blog about this book.

What's it about?

Will American politics always be dominated by the two major political parties or are voters longing for an independent candidate to challenge the establishment?
Everyone thought that the slate of candidates for the presidential election had been set until Benjamin Franklin Foster came on the scene capturing the hearts of American voters with his message of change and reform. Powerful interests intent on preserving the status quo with their bought-and-paid-for politicians were determined to take Ben Foster out of the race. The Secret Service comes up with a quirky plan to protect the candidate and strike a blow for Lady Justice.
Will there be a new resident in the White House or will it be politics as usual?
