Late Summer: The perfect time for a Mermaid romance! Siren's Call.

Siren's Call (Dark Tides Book 1) by [Quinn, Devyn]

Without the Best Books - Two Thumbs Up book review page on Facebook, I would never have found out about this book. Best Books link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/243199719356829/

Mermaids have always fascinated me. In fact, my girlhood friend and I used to play the fisherman and the Mermaid back in the Sixties. When I saw The Siren's Call, I couldn't resist, especially when the ebook is only $1.99.

What's it about?

Lighthouse keeper Tessa Lonike savors her solitude on Little Mer, an island off the coast of Maine, guarding her true identity as a mermaid. But when Tessa spots a man thrashing around in the ice cold waters during a storm, she must use her ability as a mermaid to pull him to shore.

A year later, when Kenneth Randall meets the woman who saved his life, he's determined not to let Tessa slip away. But when Tessa'a archaeologist ex-lover comes back to town with a clue to her heritage, she may be forced to leave her happiness behind.

I like the idea of this book so much, I am going to buy it and review it. Care to join me?

The first of the Seaside Cafe Mysteries: Live and Let Chai! Drink up!

Live and Let Chai (Seaside Café Mystery #1)

"By the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea,
You and me, you and me, oh how happy we'd be".

The Cozy Mysteries website never fails to deliver good reading. And during vacation season, I thought a seaside mystery would be an exciting read.

Life hasn't been so sweet for Everly Swan over the past couple of years, but now that she is back in her seaside hometown and the proud owner of a little iced tea shop and café right on the beach, things are finally starting to look up—until a curmudgeonly customer turns up dead on the boardwalk. With one of her hallmark glass tea jars lying right next to him and an autopsy that reports poison in his system, it doesn't look good for Everly or her brand new business.
As the townspeople of Charm, formerly so welcoming and homey, turn their back on Everly, she fights to dig up clues about who could have had it in for the former town councilman. With a maddeningly handsome detective discouraging her from uncovering leads and a series of anonymous attacks on Everly and her business, it will take everything she's got to keep this mystery from boiling over.

Speaking of class reunions...Lady Justice is going, too!

Lady Justice and the Class Reunion by [Thornhill, Robert]

My 45th high school reunion is just around the corner, but I have a family reunion to attend, so Cutie and I aren't going. Anyway, Lady Justice is crashing Walt's 50th reunion and the sparks are going to fly!

For most people, a 50th class reunion is a time to party and renew old acquaintances, but Walt Williams isn't an ordinary guy --- he's a cop, and trouble seems to follow him everywhere he goes.

Old flames, bullies and a scorned classmate make Walt’s reunion one to remember.

The Mexican drug cartel is recruiting young Latino girls as drug mules and the Kansas City Police have hit a brick wall until Walt is given a lead by an old classmate.

Even then, it takes three unlikely heroes from the Whispering Hills Retirement Village to help Walt and Ox end the cartel's reign of terror.

And, like many of  Robert Thornhill's, this book is audible!

Introducing Psycho in Paradise - Book 15 of the Paradise Series!

Psycho in Paradise (Florida Keys Mystery Series Book 15) by [Brown, Deborah]

I admit, I enjoy watching some of those shows on Investigation Discovery that freak me out, like Killer Beside Me and reruns of Obsession. If you're like me, you like a thrill ride with a few good scares added in. Well, Deborah Brown does not disappoint!

Read on:

In the Florida Keys, you have to take the shady with the sunny. And Tarpon Cove has more than fifty shades of shady going on.

Shady No. 1: When Brad is framed using the dead body of his crazy ex-girlfriend, the Westin family—which now includes Fab, Didier, and Creole by default—gathers to plan a strategy.

Shady No. 2: Fab is having a hard time keeping her promise to go legit. It’s not her fault she tends to attract clients who want their problems solved without getting the cops involved. Trying to keep her reined in is a full-time job, and a thankless one, since Madison keeps getting roped in on “easy” jobs that wind up getting the kind of messy that requires specialized cleanup.

Shady No. 3: Ferreting out the info needed to save Brad means using sources so deep in the friend-of-a-friend network they’re anonymous even to Madison.

Well, how shady can you get?
