Look who's in our online bookstore.

Write More Publications - Kissimmee, FL Write More Publications is growing!
http://www.writemorepublications.com/index.html
Founded in February, 2011, Write More started out as a small paranormal romance publisher designed to encourage people to write, publish and pursue their creative ambitions. Initially, the only employee was the founder, Theresa Oliver, an elementary school teacher. I started copy editing for Theresa Oliver after connecting with her in the World Literary Cafe. For more writer's opportunities available from World Literary Cafe, click here: http://www.worldliterarycafe.com/

Then, I started blogging book release parties and interviewing authors. Becca Boucher has been coordinating blog tours for several months now and really getting Write More authors on the map. Vanessa Hancock is in charge of Marketplace Promotions. Now, Write More has an online store with much more than the paranormal romance authors and anthologies it originally had.

Of course we have Chick Lit, Young Adult and Coming of Age (New Adult). The Write More online store has expanded to Children's books, books for Middle Schoolers, Inspirational, Action Adventure and Thrillers. Have a look: http://www.writemorepublications.com/~shop/main.html

By the way, what's in store for Write More? Find out here:

A call for bloggers: You are invited to the blog tour for A Mother's Journey.

Blog travel agent Rebecca Boucher http://www.bbtourservices.com/wants to get a very special message out.

This is the story of an incredible and inspirational journey of a mother dedicated to her three children. She was determined to survive a tragic event through faith, hope, and courage.

The mother was severely injured, and her devoted husband and father of her children was killed instantly. She watched her son fight for every breath he took to survive. Her daughters, only three and five years old, were traumatized. The young girls screamed in pain and wondered where their father and brother were.

The mother buried her husband, stood by strongly as her son had surgery after surgery, and went to court to see that the man who changed their lives forever was served with justice. She tried to stay strong and focused for her children. She wasn’t able to grieve the loss of her husband. She made endless medical decisions and stayed with her son in the hospital for many months. She waited to see progress from her comatose son and saw her little girls only on weekends. The girls trying to adjust emotionally and physically to their new life.

This book will make someone think about his or her choices. Making the wrong choice, like doing drugs or driving intoxicated, can have a lasting impact on your life and the lives of others. Someone else’s choices caused this mother’s family to go on a journey that no one should ever have to endure.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Rebecca Boucher by December 18th at any link below: http://www.bbtourservices.com/ http://www.beccab8.blogspot.com/

Author Interview: The bright and colorful J.S. Wilsoncroft!

Image of J S Wilsoncroft
I would compare J.S. Wilsoncroft to brightly colored confetti: fun, vibrant, and full of life!

Author Interview for J.S. Wilsoncroft
Amazon Author Page link: http://amzn.to/1cUYzHI
  • What are the titles of your books?
I have several romance books available nationwide; Remembering Zane, Fat Chances, The Unfaithful Widow, My Haunting Love, Toothless, Like Father Like Daughter and several stories in anthologies.

  • Please tell us a little bit about your books.
Most of my books are romance books. My Haunting Love is my first YA paranormal romance. Toothless is a horror short story and Like Father Like Daughter is a collection of short stories including a story written by my father, Jim Johnston.

  • How did you come up with your book ideas?
Don’t laugh, but a lot of my ideas come to me while I am shaving dogs asses. I am a full time dog groomer and a part time writer. I have been grooming for over seventeen years and could probably do it with my eyes closed, not that I ever would. LOL I guess my mind goes into overdrive then because I am relaxed, of course, occasionally I get a dog that likes to give me a hard time.

  • What are your plans for the future?
I hope to have my three book series, Roller Coaster Luv published in 2014 and possibly a few others.

  • What is your day job?
I groom puppies. I call all dogs of all ages puppies.

  • What is your preferred genre to write?
I much prefer to write romance but occasionally I like to write a paranormal story. I am a ghost hunter so I love spooky things.

  • How did you become a writer?
After reading The Twilight Saga, I joined a Stephenie Meyer fan page on Facebook. They used to have writing contests every week and one day I wrote a story. It got rave reviews so I continued to write, that’s when Roller Coaster Luv popped into my head and well…here I am with five published books and several ebooks. If someone would have come to me ten years ago and told me I was going to write a book I would have said they were crazy, but that just goes to show you that life is so unpredictable. Things change. People change. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad. So if you can, make it the good!!

  • Are you a planner, complete with detailed outlines, or do you fly by the seat of your pants when writing?
Fly by the seat baby!!!!!!! I sit down at my laptop and let my fingers and mind flow…

  • What is the best writing advice that you have ever been given?
Just keep writing. No matter how many bad reviews or rejections you get from agents or publishers, just keep writing.

  • What advice would you give a new writer?
The same thing. Keep writing and never quit your day job. LOL And if your story gets a bad review, shake it off, don’t let it bother you. Remind yourself that you will NOT please everyone and then think of E.L. James’s Fifty Shades of Grey and how many one star reviews she got. She doesn’t care…she’s laughing all the way to the bank.

  • What other projects do you have in the works at the moment?
Roller Coaster Luv….this book is going to make J.S. Wilsoncroft a household name. LOL

  • What surprises can we expect from you in the future?
Hell if I know. I surprise myself every day.

  • If you could journey into any of your books, interacting with the characters, which would it be and why?
Greg Thomas from The Unfaithful Widow….he’s a Prince. Need I say more? And his father Bart Thomas, I just loved his personality. You can just imagine how pissed off I was at myself when I killed him off. I was saying, “Jamie, what the hell is wrong with you?”

  • What public appearances do you have planned in the future?
I have done several Barnes and Noble signings in Pennsylvania. I would love to do one in New York City. I have been invited to go to Maine to a convention in August. So, I’m pretty excited about that.

  • Is there anything else you’d like to share with your fans?
My fans? Doesn’t that sound wonderful? I am so grateful for them, my family and friends. They are the ones that keep me motivated to keep writing. I know I don’t say it enough and I truly apologize.

On behalf of Write More Publications and on behalf of myself, thank you!

It's NaNoWriMo. Sorry, I'm 10 days late.

NaNoWriMo Okay, maybe I'm oblivious to some of the goings on in the writer-oriented social media. For the longest time, I thought NaNoWriMo was a Japanese anime character. I envisioned a little purple, oblong creature with googly eyes that looked like a crawling pill for chronic heartburn. I could almost hear it's squeaky chipmunk voice. Alright, I'll settle down. Let's talk about the now ongoing National Novel Writing Month.

I Googled NaNoWriMo and found http://nanowrimo.org/

The website immediately greeted me with "Are you ready to write a novel?"
The site offers you a chance to:
  •  Write a novel in a month
  • Track your progress online
  • Get pep talks and support
  • Meet fellow writers online and in person
In addition to the above, NaNoWriMo offers a graphic design marathon called "30 Covers, 30 Days".
You can also get deals or win prizes from sponsors such as Create Space and Watt Pad.
http://nanowrimo.org/sponsor-offers

You are not alone! NaNoWriMo offers access to pep talks any time: http://nanowrimo.org/pep-talks
Here are the 2013 Pep Talkers: http://nanowrimo.org/pep-talks#current
Toward the bottom of this page, the Pep Talk Archive has links to the Young Writers Program, which has its own selection of YA Pep Talkers each year.

National Novel Writing Month was established in 1999. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that believes stories matter. This year, we anticipate half a million writers joining our noveling adventure.
During NaNoWriMo 2012,
Over 250 NaNoWriMo novels have been traditionally published. They include Sara Gruen’s Water for Elephants, Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus, Hugh Howey’s Wool, Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl, Jason Hough’s The Darwin Elevator, and Marissa Meyer’s Cinder. See a full list of our published authors.

Just signed up? Click here for the Map of the Month: http://nanowrimo.org/map-to-the-month
For those of you in the know about NaNoWriMo, I wish you success with your 30-day novel!
If not, maybe you're a hot shot and can bang a novel out in 20 days!

Slideshare: Free ebooks to increase ebook sales.

Here's an interesting article from Mark Coker, the owner of Smashwords, regarding a study he did of e-book sales and the trends. Also, he wrote a book that he is giving away to help authors and publishers with e-book sales, too.

What questions does the study answer?
  • Do authors who change prices frequently sell more books?
  • If ebooks are immortal, how do sales develop over time?
  • How do individual titles develop at a retailer?
  • What's the ideal word count for ebooks?
  • What word count do romance readers prefer?
  • What word count do erotica readers prefer?
  • What impact does price have on unit sales?
  • How are Smashwords authors pricing their books?
  • What are the most common price points?
  • What price range earns the author the most money?
  • What does the indie ebook sales distribution curve look like?
  • What's the optimal price per word?
The answers are in this slideshare: http://www.slideshare.net/Smashwords/how-data-driven-decisionhow-datadriven-decisions-might-help-authors-reach-more-readers

Mother and son writing team Awake Agnostos.

About the Authors: Jennifer Paquette, a native New Yorker, has had an established and varied career in advertising and marketing, but her true passion has always been writing. She is most excited about her recently published novel, The Awakening of Agnostos that she wrote with her 15 year old son, Nicholas Perrotti. Of Greek heritage, they gave the legends of their ancient ancestors a bit of a makeover with a new twist on a timeless storyline. Jennifer has also published several short stories, articles and essays and has a vault of works in progress, including a memoir with her mother, a medical thriller, and a tell-all about the college application process.

About the book: A tale as old as time - the scorned wife finds a way to get even!!! Set in mythical times, Hera banishes her husband Zeus' mistress, Hercate to Agnostos. The only place on earth where Hercate has no magical power. She is trapped and makes a deal with Hera in order to get released. Will Hera double cross her or will the 'other woman' be punished for eternity?Hera, Zeus’ wife, banishes her to Agnostos—The Triangle of the Unknown—the only place on earth where the gods of Olympus have no power. Once imprisoned, Hecate stumbles upon a gateway to the center of the earth, and uses her discovery to bargain her way out of Agnostos. But the night after the Council meeting to decide Hecates fate, Athena is visited by a Titan who reveals the real story of the mysterious portal hidden beneath the waters of Agnostos. A god more powerful than the Olympians await them at the Earth’s core. To maintain their status as supreme rulers of Olympus, five gods must enter the abyss and fight this unknown god. Can the gods of Olympus learn to work together and save the Earth?

What's waiting for you in the NA Alley?

NA AlleyNA Alley is one of the go-to sites for New Adult writers and readers. If you want to give your NA book more exposure, read on.

Here is a timely announcement:

What's Spooky, Fantastical, and Coming Soon? Help Us Find Out!

As the New Adult category continues to broaden, we at NA Alley want to make certain nothing falls through the genre cracks. While we definitely love our New Adult contemporary romances, we also recognize there's a lot of great NA fiction being written in paranormal romance, horror, science fiction, dystopian, and other popular genres--and many of them are coming out this Fall and Winter!

We'd love to highlight them all individually by participating in your bloghops, cover reveals, etc., but there's simply no way we could honor all of the requests we receive in a given month.

So in an effort to share a little of the spotlight, we're conducting a call for authors of all of those books in 'other' genres coming out September 2013 - March 2014.

Adding your book to the list is as simple as completing the form below. We'll share the entire catalog here at the Alley in an upcoming blog post.

And we figured what better time than October to share a few spooky, fantastical, and different New Adult titles, right? :)

For clarity--and to make sure we don't call your book something it isn't--here are a few questions to answer and definitions to remember BEFORE submitting the form:

Is your book New Adult? - This list is for New Adult books only. For a crash course, review our 'What is New Adult?' page. :)

What GENRE is your book? - Is it primarily adventure? Historical? Speculative? Suspense? Generally, what is the first thing it's listed under at retailers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.? Here's a handy Wiki-list of genres and subgenres to use as a general guide if you aren't sure.

What SUB-genre is your book?

Remember, we're looking for anything other than contemporary New Adult. (And for all you contemp folks, be patient with us. We'll be doing lots more to highlight you all in the future.) Using the link above, can you tell us where your book fits? (Urban Fantasy = Speculative; Regency Romance = Historical; and so on.)

When will the book be published? - Month & year are fine. We're specifically looking for titles coming available in the Fall/Winter release window, so September 2013 - March 2014. If you're close (August 29/April 1) go ahead and submit it.

Read the form directions, and that's all there is to it!

Click here for the form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Q9k3ahDFBlejpv4ddCjQj2ocyHBUyWBldbgNG5A9XCQ/viewform?embedded=true

Hope to read about you soon!

Rebecca Boucher in the spotlight!

My favorite blog travel agent is also a writer. The first book of The Moon Series is coming in October.

Hunting the Moon

A year after the murder of her husband, Lilly Lawson is still plagued by nightmares that have pushed her back into her adolescent habit of cutting. Even worse, she starts to see and communicate with her husband’s ghost. When she goes to the sentencing for the man convicted of the crime, she finds herself captivated by the killer's brother.

Daemon Kelly has returned to their small town after a long absence to care for his elderly mother. He also has to face the whispers regarding his brother's crime and his own alcoholism. When he comes face to face with the widow of the man his brother killed, he feels an intense need to protect her, but from what, he doesn't know.

When the two fall in love it is anything but easy. Aaron Lawson is intent on coming back and claiming what is his. And the closer Lily and Daemon get to Aaron's ghost, the more they unravel the truth about why he died in the first place. Piecing together bits of ancient Celtic lore, can they find a way to help Aaron's soul find rest?

About Rebecca:

Rebecca Boucher was born and raised in Worcester Massachusetts. Her father instilled an early love of reading in her and encouraged her when she started to write. She attended a small Catholic High School. Then, Rebecca earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Quinsigamond Community College, but her love has always been writing. After the birth of her first child, she moved to a quiet little town on the edge of Worcester county, in the heart of Central Massachusetts. Living there has inspired her to write most of her current projects. In fact, local readers might recognize some of her locations.

When she is not writing, Rebecca is the mother to two boys, ages 10 and 13. Her youngest son was diagnosed in the Autism spectrum, and a lot of her volunteer time is spent raising awareness and promoting education for this cause.

NA fiction plus a great website.

New Adult fiction

New Adult literature is the hot new trend. Most agree that the New Adult age range is 17-27, others say 18-26, or so. Other terms for NA include: Upper YA, Crossover Fiction, and Mature YA. NA characters are often portrayed experiencing: college, living away from home for the first time, military deployment, apprenticeships, a first steady job, a first serious relationship, etc. When I was a New Adult, back in the late 70s to the early 80s, the big thing for me was learning how to manage money. After college, I felt disconnected and had to remap my home life and my social life.

I went looking for some great NA sites and this is what I came up with:
Since the age ranges for Young Adult and New Adult overlap, a group of authors decided to do something about it. Featuring NA Alley: http://www.naalley.com/  What do they have to offer readers and indie NA authors? He wants to make a star of you! He wants to make a star of you!

Steve Gadlin's Star Makers
Steve Gadlin became a celebrity after pitching cat drawing service as an investment prospect on NBC's Shark Tank. Click here to see his signature song and dance routine: http://iwanttodrawacatforyou.com/ Now Steve wants to more than just draw a cat for you; he's also a star maker.

Besides drawing cartoon cats who sometimes say "Whoopy" and building websites, Steve has a company Blewt! to delight and confuse. A few weeks ago he launched a brand new project - a talent showcase called Steve Gadlin's Star Makers! It's a loving homage to public access talent showcases of the 1980's. Think Lawrence Welk meets The Gong Show meets Stairway to Stardom.

He's beginning to air the show late night in Chicago, and on cable access stations in Boston, Sacramento, New York, and Milwaukee - and soon in your town! But you can always watch full episodes on his website SGStarmakers.com, or through his free podcast. This  show is also available for free download in the iTunes store! It's organized squirrelyness. Are you talented and want to share your squirrely nature? Are you just plain squirrely and want to share your talented nature? Click here: auditions@blewt.com

New Adult Paranormal Anthology. Protagonists are 18-25 and the category tackles the age group between young adult and adult. Issues include college life, first jobs, etc. Since it's paranormal, it can include the fae, sprites, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, witches ... be creative. The deadline is Oct. 1. No explicit sex. Heratio: The Misadventures of a Guardian Angel

Send your submissions to writemorepublications@gmail.com with "Heratio Submission" in the subject line by Dec. 1, 2013. Good luck, everyone!

HERATIO RULES: I was thinking about it and I think we need a few more perimeters within which to write for the Heratio anthology. So, here it goes! If you have any questions, just ask. Thanks, everyone, and good luck!
*Readership: Middle Grades (ages 9-12)
*Heratio's Mentors: Stan and Clara. (Stan is a teenage angel, brunette, with blue eyes--Heratio's direct mentor.) (Clara is a brunette angel, motherly type about 25-ish. She is in charge of them both.) (Both or neither may be used in your stories, but just in case.)
*Heratio is sent on missions where he learns just as much as who he helps.
*Stories can be humorous or serious ... all should be inspirational.
*Issues can deal with unconditional love, loss, parents, independence, surviving alone, honesty, growing pains, friendship (losing a friend, what to do if a friend lies, cheats or steals, etc.), being new in a place, appearance, setting goals, popularity, and more. Have fun with it!
*Heratio can be sent all over the world.
*Heratio appears to be 12 years old, dark blonde hair, hazel eyes, but can change his appearance as needed.

*Below is the mock cover for Heratio and a pic of what he looks like.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions, just let me know, or e-mail writemorepublications@gmail.com.

Authors in the Park has a new newspaper and shines the light on authors.

Did you know that Authors in the Park has its very own digital newspaper? It comes out twice daily and is chock full of randomly selected tweets from AIP participating authors (past, present, and future), and literary news from places such as YALSA, Publishers Weekly, and more! Check it out here http://paper.li/JLBCreatives/1360113515

They also feature authors on their Facebook page:

Amy I. Long was raised in Sanford, Florida. She is working toward a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and hopes to apply that knowledge to the field of disease control. She loves watching sci-fi movies, reading historic romance novels, studying history, medical botany, and astronomy. The inspiration for this book was Boadicea (Boudica or Boudicca), a queen of a Celtic tribe who led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire. “I especially like strong, outspoken women of earlier days but little known in modern times. Perhaps that is what sparked my enthusiasm to write about my own queen.”
